The Sauce is a practice aid for the Hot Club swing musician or enthusiast – beginner or advanced, guitar or otherwise, soloist or otherwise.
Performed by the grooviest rhythm section this side of Paris after a summer on tour backing Angelo Debarre, Fapy Lafertin, Bireli Lagrene and John Etheridge.
I wanted the playalongs to represent the sound and textural environment of a live performance and the songs were recorded with no click track and no rehearsed arrangements.
DAVE KELBIE – GUITAR
PETE KUBRYK-TOWNSEND – DOUBLE BASS
I’ll be telling all my violin students at the Royal Academy and Royal College in London they must equip themselves with The Sauce
CHRIS GARRICK – VIOLIN
Europe’s pre-eminent rhythm section in the genre
JOHN ETHERIDGE – GUITAR
The Sauce rocks!
JOE TOWNSEND – VIOLIN
Just what us bedroom Djangos need. Can’t wait for Sauce 2
STEVE BELL – GUITAR
What would I have done without The Sauce?
BEN HOLDER – VIOLIN
A whole Gene Krupa on guitar rythmique
NEAL WRIGHT – GUITAR

2 reviews for The Sauce 2 by Dave Kelbie & Pete Kubryk-Townsend
Rated 5 out of 5
Paul Davis –
Being a guitarist working towards competence in the Hot Club style, these were a welcome practice tool. What makes these tracks a cut above others, is the personnel and song choices – exactly what you hear on the fine “Angelo Debarre Quartet live at Quecumbar.”
DAVE KELBIE and PETE KUBRYK-TOWNSEND bring the same rock solid swing to this collection (and the Sauce 2) found on the Debarre recording.
