Kamao Quartet

Traditional manouche songs, Django Reinhardt classics, jazz songs, a sprinkle of Brazilian Choro music and original music. KAMAO means “I like/I love/I want” in Romani dialect.

Fronted since 2014 by French singer/guitarist/composer Jean de Talhouet, the band includes clarinet (Dave Schulman), guitars (Dave Kelbie), and double bass (Ruth Goller), creating a beautiful and rich sound that complements the vocals with haunting and lyrical harmonies. Their repertoire ranges from hot swinging jazz featuring captivating virtuoso improvisations, to the saddest Gypsy ballads, the liveliest waltzes, as well as personal compositions.
