TRACKLIST & AUDIO
In this new album, trumpet player Patrick ARTERO (Boris Vian Prize of the Jazz Academy 2004, Victoire de la Musique in 2009 for his album “Artero Vaudoo”, Grand Prix du Hot Club de France in 2014 for his tribute to Louis Armstrong with the Paris Swing Orchestra) wanted to pay tribute to some of the greatest trumpet players in the history of jazz (Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Tommy Ladnier, Rex Stewart, Roy Eldridge, Cootie Williams, Buck Clayton, Joe Newman. . . . ) that have inspired him since his childhood and that have allowed him to tame this musical language.
Each of these portraits, Patrick sketches them with his own style, feeling and musical language. And one can see each trumpet player who has left his mark on Artero’s destiny in this Major Art that is Jazz Music, emerging in the course of the original pieces and arrangements.
And when Patrick plays, they’re there, all of them. . . right next to him.
Patrick ARTERO is accompanied here by the formidable “Rythm Section” with Sébastien GIRARDOT on Double Bass, David BLENKHORN on Guitar, Guillaume NOUAUX on Drums (and with the voice of the New Orleans musician Don VAPPIE on poems by Langston Hughes that embellish each musical piece).
PRESS
